Barcelona to Host Pivotal Summit on Future of Urban Mobility

Barcelona is set to become the epicenter of urban innovation this November, as the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress (TMWC) 2025 convenes for its fifth and most ambitious edition yet.

From November 4-6, the Gran Via venue will host a crucial global gathering under the theme “Move Better,” bringing together over 200 exhibitors and 240 speakers to confront the escalating complexities of urban transportation. Co-organized by Fira Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the event aims to accelerate a new era of connected, inclusive, and low-emission mobility.

The stakes are high for cities worldwide, grappling with growing demands on transport infrastructure and the urgent imperatives of decarbonization and digitalization. Delphine Romeu, director of Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, underscored the event’s critical role, stating that urban mobility is undergoing a “fundamental transformation,” and that the congress is “not just a showcase of innovation—it’s a platform for forging real solutions.” She emphasized that the companies, policymakers, and experts participating will play a “decisive role in reshaping mobility systems to be more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.”

The comprehensive conference program is designed to tackle these multifaceted challenges across more than 50 sessions. Key topics include “Staying competitive in the race to net-zero,” “The future of mobility: exploring the next decade of innovations,” and “Innovations to increase the resilience and quality of mobility systems.” Additionally, sessions will delve into “Solutions for sustainable commuting” and the burgeoning field of “Autonomous mobility in public transport.”

Thought leadership will be central to the discourse, with a distinguished speaker lineup featuring David Zipper, Senior Fellow at the MIT Mobility Initiative, as the keynote. He will be joined by Marc Rozendal, the new CEO of EIT Urban Mobility, and Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS. Mr. Rozendal articulated the broader vision for the congress, explaining that while the event will highlight breakthrough technologies, it will also “spotlight critical issues such as health, social inclusion, and urban well-being—reminding us that truly resilient mobility systems must serve not only efficiency, but people.”

This emphasis signals a shift towards human-centric urban planning that extends beyond mere logistical improvements.

The congress offers more than just intellectual exchange; it provides a tangible glimpse into the future of urban transport. The exhibition area and an Innovation Playground will showcase cutting-edge solutions from across the mobility ecosystem. Notable confirmed exhibitors include major players like Deloitte, PTV Group, Sener, and Tomtom, alongside key municipal entities such as Barcelona Serveis Municipals.

Furthermore, a dedicated Startup Zone will spotlight disruptive mobility technologies and platforms, fostering critical opportunities for collaboration and investment within the rapidly evolving sector.

TMWC 2025 is a global event designed to shape urban futures, and its impact is amplified by its co-location with the Smart City Expo World Congress—the leading international summit on smart cities and urban solutions.

Together with Tomorrow.Building and Tomorrow.Blue Economy, these events will transform Fira de Barcelona into the world’s largest hub for urban innovation, collectively drawing more than 1,100 exhibitors and over 25,000 attendees. This convergence underscores Barcelona’s strategic position as a vital forum for advancing sustainable urban development on a global scale.
